Reflective Sculptures by Rob Mulholland – Works of art almost invisible in the foliage green. They are human figures that seem to watch over the forest. Life-size figures made of mirrors. They thought a new installation by contemporary artist Rob Mulholland.
The idea behind this project is simple. The 51 year old artist has sought to emphasize the changes that have occurred in the landscape due to human right through the invisible shapes that reflect the surrounding reality.
The statues were placed representing the peoples who inhabited those places in the past and which proved able to maintain a relationship with nothing short of idyllic natural surroundings, considering it the same way as a magical place offering shelter to creatures mysterious in its remotest corners. The statues are almost invisible in the distance and offer a fascinating element of surprise to observers. The mirror statues have the effect of amplifying the space occupied by the forest, creating the extraordinary light and color and highlighting the details hidden.
The purpose of the works is also to encourage visitors to think about the impact the environment caused by man and his actions on natural areas. The presence of the statues has received such an appreciation, by both locals and tourists, which the leaders of the park Mulholland decided to commission the construction of six statues that will find a permanent placement within the forest. The exhibition of works of art has recently been completed and is expected to continue to mirror the statues decorating the park for at least the next ten years.
